Our Commitment

Dedicated to Advancing Brain Health and Transforming Lives

Improving the lives of people living with brain disease requires a multifaceted approach. Beyond developing transformative medical therapies, we strive to make a difference for patients, by working to increase support for affected families and engaging with communities to create broader social acceptance of people living with brain diseases.

Equally important to what we deliver is how we deliver it. Our approach across the value chain incorporates sustainable business practices. We care for people, the environment and society, and we do it with full respect for each other’s diverse perspectives and experiences.

Committed to providing transformative outcomes to people living with brain disease

We work tirelessly to advance brain health because:

  • Over 790 million people worldwide live with a brain disease1
  • People living with a brain disease live between 10-20 years less than healthy individuals2
  • The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that the global economy loses about 1 trillion USD a year in productivity due to depression and anxiety disorders alone2

Our commitment is to empower patients to give them the tools and resources they need to understand their disease and its progression.

Our commitment is to continuously challenge the status quo and push our science further to make a real difference for our patients.

Our commitment is to provide valuable information, create awareness and offer support to families caring for someone managing a chronic brain disease.

Our commitment is to end the stigma, fear, and silence that surrounds brain diseases within communities.

Our commitment to society is to increase access to medicines for the most vulnerable, to act responsibly towards the environment and to behave with respect and integrity in everything we do.

Advancing brain health

Researchers and healthcare professionals

Research and Development (R&D) of new and improved treatments is at the core of what we do. Lundbeck annually invests in brain research and we partner with leading research experts and centres, and invest in medical education.

People with lived experience and their families

We ensure that we listen and integrate patient insights throughout Lundbeck’s value-chain, we provide patient education and patient support programmes as well as treatments.

To leverage the support of families, loved ones and carers, we work with caregivers and advocacy groups to support evidence generation and awareness campaigns on the value they bring to disease management.

Giving back to society

Research and Development of medical treatments is our biggest contribution to society. Our aspiration is to enhance access to brain health treatments for the most vulnerable. We aim to accelerate our efforts through strategic partnerships and collaboration with leading experts.

Science and innovation enable us to foster ground-breaking discoveries within neuroscience. But it also plays a pivotal role in helping us, as a company, prioritise climate action. We are leaders in climate action, and we measure everything we do with the most ambitious reduction targets set by science. Throughout our value chain, we continue to reduce our carbon footprint, adopting a circular economy framework and increasing recycling.

Trust is essential. To us, and to our industry. As a business partner, we promote integrity in the pharmaceutical industry. We take prudent actions to remain responsible.

Our continued responsibility

At Lundbeck, it’s important to us that we contribute towards easing the global burden of the millions of people living with brain diseases. We are one of the few companies in the world that focus exclusively on this unmet need. For more than 70 years, we’ve been pushing the boundaries of neuroscience. With brain health issues impacting over 790 million people worldwide1, it’s more important than ever that we focus and accelerate our efforts. We have demonstrated staying power, specialist knowledge and a comprehensive approach to developing treatments.

We are dedicated to helping improve the quality of life for people affected by brain disease and ever mindful of this purpose, Lundbeck perseveres.
