Mental illness affects more than just the patient
Meet Lisa Ziemer, Senior Account Manager at Lundbeck in the US.
A life-changing experience in her personal life inspired Lisa to pursue a career in pharmaceutical sales. As part of her job, Lisa is now in daily contact with medical professionals, who do their best to support patients.
My focus at Lundbeck is our patients. I am a resource to our healthcare practitioners providing case workers, therapists, pharmacists, nurses and prescribers with product and disease state information, patient resources and insurance coverage details to help them best support the patients they see and treat every day. Improving the life for even one patient means improving the lives of their family members, co-workers, community members… the lives touched are infinite.
My father received a kidney-pancreas transplant in 2002. It was a journey that led me, as a caregiver, to interactions with a team of medical professionals that truly care about the outcome of their patients. This life changing experience touched me and perked my interest in the healthcare industry.
"I am motivated every time I hear a story from a provider of a life change. From seeing a loved one smile to watching them enjoy life’s moments again, I know first-hand that mental illness affects more than just the patient."
I was at a turning point where I risked leaving CNS specialty at a former company that was changing direction. I knew that Lundbeck’s sole focus was on brain health. Upon further research that included speaking with a future colleague, I learned that Lundbeck’s culture revolves around its purpose of being tirelessly dedicated to restoring brain health, so every person can be their best. This mission fits my own beliefs and continues to be the beacon that guides us today.
My family. As a mom and wife with a career, I choose to make every minute spent away from my family worth it, knowing that my efforts can positively impact the lives of others. I too grew up with a loved one who suffers from depression and anxiety. I am motivated every time I hear a story from a provider of a life change. From seeing a loved one smile to watching them enjoy life’s moments again, I know first-hand that mental illness affects more than just the patient.
As one of the body’s most complex organs, brain health to me means full body health. If our brain is suffering, every part of our body can be impacted.
Winning Rep of the Year in 2019, pre pandemic, and in 2021, during the pandemic. My partner, Scott Rogers, and I both won this award in the same years. The timing shows that we were able to meet our healthcare practitioners where they needed us most in “normal times” as well as in the ever evolving environment of healthcare as we now know it. Scott and I held each other accountable and every single day our conversations with one another and our providers revolved around the most important people we serve – our patients.
Outside of work, I love to spend time with my husband and three boys. We are always up for an adventure and enjoy traveling together: skiing, camping, hiking, exploring big cities, live music, sporting events and relaxing at the beach. I am also an avid yoga practitioner, completing my 200 hours of certified yoga training in 2021.
