Description

The Department of Systems Biology is looking for a Laboratory Technician with strong experience in technical work with research animals, especially rodents. The Department of Systems Biology – symptoms section, is responsible for supporting research projects with animal experiments and developing new animal models for testing pharmacological effect of new drug candidates in Lundbeck’s R&D pipeline. The department comprises an international team of around 25 members, including scientists, laboratory technicians and students.

Your job and key responsibilities  
You will play a key role in planning, conducting and supporting the analysis of in vivo experiments.
Your main responsibilities will be hands-on work in the laboratory, including general animal husbandry, dosing of the animals, performing behaviour assays and taking in-life and terminal biosamples. Some of the studies being performed may require you to carry-out recovery surgery, and occasionally perform biochemical analysis of tissue samples with for example western blots, histology, commercial ELISA or LCMS. You will work closely with and report to an experienced scientist in the team.

Qualifications
Our preferred candidate has the following personal and professional qualifications:

  • Education as technician or similar with at least 5 years of working experience
  • General experience with research animals especially rodentsCompetent in rodent recovery surgeries
    • Experience in study planning (good organizational mind-set)
    • Competent in handling rodents i.e. dosing (i.v., i.p., p.o., s.c.), blood sampling and CSF sampling
    • Experience in rodent behavioural assays related to disorders of the central nervous system
      • Including Cognition assays, side-effect profile of compounds, depression-like symptoms, assays for psychosis-like symptoms.  
  • Experience with sample handling post mortem, tissue and fluid collections
  • Experience with ex-vivo assays (Western Blot, ELISA, ImmunHistoChemistry) maybe advantageous.
  • Systematic and quality focused with a flair for excel, Graphpad prism
  • Pharma or biotech experience will be an advantage
  • Efficient, goal oriented and independent work style with flexible mind-set.
  • Team player with strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Proficient in oral and written English.
