Every patient expects to be treated according to the highest standards. Yet this is not always the case as data indicate that there are large variations in cross-cultural practice and many variations from the scientific guidelines and recommendations. Consequently, the Institute uses evidence-based medicine and international guidelines as the background material for the seminars in an effort to assist the participants in reaching consensus for the optimal treatment of the patients. All seminars are accredited by EAC – The European Accrediation Committee in CNS – with 26 points each. The accreditation is accepted worldwide. Seminar structure This leads to group work with different questions for each group in order to fully cover the topic. The participants present the group work results in plenary sessions with the aim of reaching a consensus through cross-cultural discussions. Furthermore, the participants have the opportunity to meet several well-known experts during "Meet the Expert" sessions, which are also part of the seminar programmes. The ultimate aim is to disseminate the consensus to as many healthcare providers as possible in their daily environment. This educational cascade effect is very important. |
